At the Tuesday November 8 PI Meeting (1995), It was decided that the project would match the Department of Environmental Sciences (UVA) travel award system ($600 per student as of 11/2002). An equivalent amount to the Environmental Sciences travel award may be requested by a VCR LTER student to defray costs to attend a professional meeting and presenting the results of their research. This is a one time per degree resource. As is done with the Department's award the student must submit an estimate of costs and the student's PI advisor must write a letter attesting to the merits of the selection of the particular professional conference. Work with the LTER Fiscal Tech. to assure that UVA travel regulations are followed.

These travel requests will not be counted against attendance the LTER All Scientists' Meetings (scheduled for 1993 and 2000). Money from the LTER Network Office helps us cover the cost of sending PIs and Students to that meeting.
