The storm track shown in the illustation above was derived from a PCA analysis of monthly storm frequency counts in 2.5 by 5.0 degree latitude by longitude grid cells for the Prairie Peninsula of North America and points east (the area shown in the illustration). Contours are of the PCA loadings for the frist vector (24% of the variance) of the anlaysis.
