Storm frequency at Konza

Storm frequencies shown above are derived from the tracks of the centers of cyclones published monthly by the National Weather Service. Counts were taken of all storms that passed through a 2.5 degree latitude by 5.0 degree longitude box centered over Northeastern Kansas. The long period variation in storm numbers is typical of much of the Prairie Peninsula of North America. The smooth red line is a third order plynomial fit to the count data.
