Leveling will entail use of either optical or laser automatic level, a stadia rod and reflecting prism, and accessory equipment. The concrete monument at the meteorological station near the pond on Transect 1 will serve as the bench mark, arbitrarily established at 2.000 m elevation. Elevations along the transects, probably at 10-20 m intervals, will describe the surface profile of Hog Island. Groundwater wells that have not already been surveyed will be leveled. Related work includes monitoring groundwater salinity using a portable salinity meter (SCT meter) and surficial water table dynamics using water level recorders.
